Daylight Savings Time (DST) started on March 13, which was 82 days after the Winter Solstice, the day that has the least daylight. However DST will end on November 6, which is only 45 days before Winter Solstice. Why is this? Shouldn't the span of DST be centered on the Winter Solstice? Shouldn't DST end 82 days before the Winter Solstice, on Friday, September 30, 2022? Or, if it must be a Sunday, on October 2, 2022? I think it used to be this way. However, the end of DST was delayed so that children wouldn't have to go trick-or-treating in the dark on Halloween.
