Oh, I forgot to motivate the whole idea behind these kinds of personality tests. They're usually used to explore relationships among people in groups, such as coworkers in an office, or family members.
For example, it's great fun to find out that you and your spouse are thoroughly incompatible.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Enneagram. But I did read a few books that referenced Myers-Briggs typing. For example, Richard Nelson Bolles discusses how your personality type relates to your ideal career.
Square Peg is among the youngest of the Baby Boom generation. Growing up, he consistently failed to fit in with family, classmates, authority figures and the establishment, basically all the round holes of life.
Now with a wife, daughter, dog, three cats and house, he makes a living as an electrical engineer, while dreaming about discovering Universal Truth.
