Wednesday Weigh-In 20111221

This is the time of year that kids get sick. I was wondering what symptoms would require us to keep our daughter home from school. She tends to get a fever that hangs around for nearly a week, and that's a lot of school time to miss and make up.

So I did a search for "when should sick children stay home from school?" and got several reasonable hits.

The consensus seems to be if the child's temperature is over 100.4F, then he or she should stay home. Apparently, she could go to school with a temperature of 99.5F. But her "normal" temperature is 96.8F (as opposed to 98.6) so I wonder about that. Could 99.5F for her be like 101.3 in a child that usually exhibits a normal temperature of 98.6F?

Why is it with me that easy answers lead to more questions? Don't answer that.

Anyway, we'll be sending her off tomorrow with some Advil.
