I'm noticing a pattern with our daughter. It's a pattern of getting mom or dad to buy stuff for her and promising to pay back.
So on Saturday (after buying the family dinner) I lent her the money to buy the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, breaking my last twenty.
When we got home, she dutifully went to fetch her money. "Here dad," she says, handing me a $50 bill.
Aghast, I said, "Where'd you get that?"
"Grandma. For Easter."
"Don't you have anything smaller?"
"Nope."
I think I'll stop giving her allowance for a while.

Too cute! Is she a "spender" or "saver"? Our older son was the former and our younger son, the latter. In fact when younger son was clearing out an old desk from college days to make room for new stuff, he found several 20 and 50 dollar bills from various birthday and graduation cards! I wish I could find some big bills in my stuff!
Our daughter tends to be a saver. Like your younger son, our daughter can accumulate money. Of course if I always left my money at home, I wouldn't spend so much of it!

Very hilarious! I used to go into my boys rooms and they would have wads of cash on their dressers (well, one son would have money all over the floor).
Me: "Hey were did you get all of this cash?"
My sons: Looking at me like I am an idiot "We have been saving it!"
Me: "Wow!!!! Can I borrow some???"

My mom used to tell me I was like a squirrel - just hoarding stuff away in my room like allowance, halloween candy, whatever it was that I placed a value on. I recognized the importance of saving - but it took me a long time to realize that I had gone from being a squirrel to a pack rat!
Do you watch "Curb your Enthusiasm" on HBO? One of the episodes was all about Larry being obsessed with a freind who somehow always got out of paying the dinner tab. Larry was determined to expose it as intentional avoidance and made an ass out of himself per usual. I love that show. Rent it on DVD if you've never seen it.
