Health Insurance

You can let food be your medicine, but don't expect insurance to cover it.

Likewise, medical research tells us that pets provide their owners with stress relief.  It also tells us that too much chronic stress leads to disease.  But show me an insurance company that will reimburse for pet food and vet bills, and I'll show you a three-legged duck.

The one alternative health care practice that insurance does cover is exercise.  They do this by paying for the cost of joining a gym.  Joining is covered; the monthly fees, however, are not.

What healthy lifestyle choice would you like to see covered?

I would like to see supplements/vitamins covered. The jury is still out if these items are harmful or helpful but in some cases, there are folks who really could benefit from having supplements added to their diet. Especially those who have low iron levels, low Vitamin D, Omega 3 etc. and supplements might help improve their intake and maybe their overall health.

Good choice! One of my much earlier posts discusses the high cost of supplements.

There's also the idea that a long vacation in a tropical paradise can significantly lower stress levels, so insurance should cover your hotel stay and air fare. :)
